Nurses carry huge responsibilities. Every shift brings complex cases, tough decisions, and expert level empathy. Nursing is a hard job too often operating in subpar conditions. We know our nurses deserve to raise the bar for themselves and their entire profession.
NPAA takes the mission seriously to raise the bar. Check out these new enterprise agreements approved by Fair Work making lives better for our fellow nurses. Our approach is simple: we listen, we design, and we advocate for real change.
Together we stand united and make real progress.
Dialysis nursing is incredibly specialised work. It requires precision and clinical knowledge.
The NPAA was appointed in September 2025 and put forward a log of claims covering key member priorities. We focused on improving wages and ensuring work is appropriately recognised. Negotiations were swift and effective.
The outcome was an 11% wage increase across the life of the agreement, along with backpay. It delivered both immediate and ongoing financial improvements for nurses.
Mental health nursing can be unpredictable and stressful. Routinely managing crises requires strong clinical judgement, resilience, and compassion. It’s time mental health nurses were recognised.
During bargaining for the Victorian Public Mental Health Services EBA 2024–2028, the NPAA went to bat for better workplace outcomes. We submitted a log of 11 claims to improve wages and recognise the complex work demands. The final agreement delivered a 12% wage increase across the life of the agreement, representing a huge nursing win.
While there’s more room to improve, each win is one great stride for nursing.
Nurses and midwives working in private hospitals play an critical role for thousands of patients every day. From surgical wards to maternity units, they provide safe, high-quality care.
During negotiations for the Healthscope – Victoria Nurses’ and Midwives’ Agreement 2025, the NPAA stepped in to fight. We raised a log of 13 claims focused on improving wages and recognising the expertise required. Negotiations were strained as Healthscope was in the midst of a sale process and had entered into administration.
The final agreement delivered a 16% wage increase across the life of the agreement, along with backpay and market uplifts of up to 9.75% for some classifications, providing both immediate financial benefits and long-term boosts.
The agreement has been voted on and will be ratified soon.
NPAA is always in your corner ready to fight for the rights of nurses and midwives. In these recent wins, we secured wage increases ranging from 11-16% along with backpay and market adjustments.
We listen to our members. And we go to bat for them. Because when nurses stand together and speak up, their voices carry weight.
The NPAA thanks all nurses who trusted us to represent them and shared their concerns. We’re always in your corner to raise the bar across Australia. We’ve got 11 other agreements active and we’re continuing the mission to stand up for nurses and midwives everywhere we can.
