While NPAA does not condone fraudulent conduct, we are committed to ensuring that every member receives procedural fairness, professional representation, and the opportunity to respond to allegations appropriately.
NPAA provided representation throughout the process to ensure the member's rights were protected and that the matter was handled in line with procedural fairness. We engaged with the employer to ensure all relevant factors were considered and advocated for an outcome that balanced accountability with the member’s right to a fair and dignified process.
Through negotiation, NPAA secured a resignation agreement that allowed the member to step away from their role following a period of leave—avoiding the formal record of dismissal while still allowing the employer to proceed with the administrative steps of overpayment recovery.
This outcome did not excuse the seriousness of the allegation, but it protected the member’s right to be treated fairly and avoided an outcome that could have caused irreversible professional harm before full resolution.
A letter of demand for the overpaid amount is expected, and NPAA will continue to support the member to ensure any repayment terms are managed transparently and reasonably.
How is the NPAA so effective in defending members during workplace issues and disputes? Our experienced and professional case managers use our unique RED™ case resolution system.
Why is the NPAA different? We believe that real change in healthcare STARTS with empowering frontline nurses, not bureaucrats.
