SETTLEMENT WORTH $47,300!

CASE WIN SOCIALS (2)

Big allegations. Working at an NGO, our member found herself facing allegations of racial conduct and cultural insensitivity. An incredibly stressful experience with reputational risk.

Facing an overwhelming situation and a quick moving employer, she reached out to the NPAA. She needed someone in her corner and that is exactly what she got.

How NPAA responded. NPAA's case manager reviewed the allegations and assessed the employer's position. It was clear the claims could not be substantiated. The priority evolved from simply clearing her name, but also to securing the best possible outcome for her departure and protecting her future.

NPAA entered negotiations with the employer. The original settlement offer on the table was $31,000. Our case manager pushed for more and better conditions attached to the exit.

The results. The final deed of settlement delivered grew.

  • $47,300 settlement, which is a 53% increase
  • A favourable reference to protect her reputation going forward
  • Non-disparagement clauses to prevent future reputational damage
  • Personal equipment retained keeping her iPhone as part of the agreement
