Being vindicated from the suspicion of any wrongdoing is a great feeling. Having a settlement paid on top of severance you are owed is even greater.
Recently, an NPA member had just such an experience when she was threatened with immediate termination from her job as a result of an investigation into an alleged incident.
She believed that the real reason for her termination was that her flexible working arrangements were too challenging for the nurse navigators she worked with.
Unfortunately sometimes people will try to do what is expedient, not what is right.
When she contacted NPAA for assistance, a case manager with expertise in this area was quickly assigned to her case.
Our case manager worked with her to challenge the allegations and negotiate a settlement, providing her with advice and guidance on her rights as an employee, to achieve a fair outcome.
Through conciliation, the case manager was able to remove the serious misconduct allegations and reach a settlement sum in lieu of additional notice/severance for $12,000.
This successful outcome was achieved thanks to our member and NPAA case manager working together throughout the entire process. Having someone on your team is your greatest strength in times like these.
The nurse member was grateful for the support she received from NPAA, which enabled her to stand up for her rights as an employee and achieve a positive outcome in a difficult situation.
This case is just one example of the many ways that NPAA works to support and protect its members, and highlights the importance of having a strong union that you can turn to in times of need.
Why is the NPAA different? We believe that real change in healthcare STARTS with empowering medical professionals, not bureaucrats.
